If the owner of the vehicle wishes to have a duplicate registration certificate because the original registration certificate was lost or damaged, there is a convenient facility which is provided by the government to acquire a duplicate DL.
The initial step in securing a duplicate registration certificate of a vehicle is to report the damage/loss of the original certificate to the police in the region where the loss or damage to the RC occurred. The form that an individual must submit to apply for a duplicate registration certificate is Form 26. You will be required to take a print out of the same and fill in all the details asked in the form. Make all the imminent payments which you have to make according to Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
Submit the following documents to get the duplicate registration certificate for your vehicle:
Form 26: It is the application which must be filled to issue the duplicate registration certificate.
An affidavit states that the original certificate is lost
Vehicle owner's signature identification
Print out of the engine chassis and engine pencil
PAN Card of the vehicle owner
Document Stating the tax clearance
Challan clearance from the traffic police
Proof of Address of the vehicle owner
Insurance Certificate
A certificate that states that the vehicle pollution level is under control.
Police certificate from the police department in the region where the loss or damage to the original RC happened.
