The Commissionerate of Transport, the Gujarat Government is responsible for ensuring that the public transportation system is efficient in the state of Gujarat, the issuance of computerized learner's license and also the issue of the Smart-Card License.
The methods that are related to procuring a new driving license may differ for renewing the driving license or adding another category in the already existing DL. The different categories are listed below:

An applicant who wants to obtain a driving license in Gujarat has to apply in the prescribed format according to the rules and regulations of Gujarat Traffic Police. Applicants must clear the computer-based test as well as the practical Driving Test to acquire the license.

An applicant must acquire the LL before he/she applies for a permanent DL. They need to fill out No.2/4 along with the medical certificate, Form 1A. If the applicant wants to procure the form online, he/she will be required to log in to www.sarathi.nic.in.
The process for acquiring a DL in Gujarat is easy and straightforward. You can follow the easy steps given below to apply for DL in Gujarat:
The applicant must procure Form 4 (the application form for acquiring the license to drive a vehicle which can be acquired from the official website of Gujarat or the local RTO.
You must own a valid LL as well.
The individual also must present a medical certificate which has to be signed by a medical practitioner who has been authorized by the government.
If you are applying for the license of a transport vehicle then you must submit Form 5.
Along with the application, you must submit all the other necessary documents and the necessary fees for the process which should be submitted in the nearest RTO.
A time slot is allotted to the applicant so that he/she can undergo the test. After passing the test, the candidate becomes eligible to obtain a permanent DL.
For a Smart-Card DL, the government of Gujarat charges 200 and an additional 50 is charged depending on the class of vehicle.
To make any modifications in a driving license, the applicant must fill out the form L.L.D specifying all information linked with the original driving license. Applicants will be required to pay 200 along with the application. If an applicant doesn't remember the details of his/her original smart card, he/she can request for the smart card in an application along with the details of the name, address, and date of birth. A nominal fee of 25 must be paid to complete the process. If an applicant wants to modify any particulars in the Driving License then he/she can request by submitting an application to the nearest RTO along with a fee of 200 and a NOC of the licensing authority.
There are different categories that can be added in the DL
Adding Transport Vehicle in LMV license.
Adding the legitimate transporting of hazardous goods in the transport vehicle.
Adding the authorization for a transport vehicle.
Adding a category of license for four-wheeler for a two-wheeler license holder
Applicants for transport vehicle must be aged at least 20 years, passed the eighth standard and must have at least a year's experience in driving Light Motor Vehicle
You must follow these steps to apply for LMV license.
Form 8 must be filled out.
The original Driving License should be submitted.
Training Certificate must be submitted (as in Form 5).
Pay the nominal fee of 200 rupees for a smart card.
The applicant must specify all the details on the application form.
The certificate of training from any state/central government must be submitted.
50 rupees must be paid as fees.
This endorsement is valid for a year.
In the form TVA, an application should be submitted.
The certificate of good conduct also must be submitted.
In Form 5, a training certificate must be submitted.
You must pay 50 rupees as the fees.
Application Request must be submitted in Form 8.
The original DL should be attached with the form.
200 rupees should be paid for a smart card DL.
An applicant can take the test 30 days after they receive the Learner's License.
An international driving license has to be issued to Indian citizens who report to the RTO in person.
Form 4 (A) and 1A must be filled out.
500 can be paid as fees.
Photocopies of passport, visa and passport size photographs, and the current DL should be submitted along with the application.
DL can be issued for a year or until the current DL of the individual has expired.
The duplicate International Driving permit can't be renewed after its expiry. The individual has to reapply if his/her IDL expires.
The permit is delivered to the individual in person.
An individual can get a 30-day grace period for renewing a DL.
If an individual applies for license renewal 5 years after the expiry date then he/she don't need to retake the test.
The applicant should fill out form 9.
The current DL must be submitted as well.
NOC (No Objection Certificate) of the RTO must be submitted as well.
