When people relocate to a new address, they might want to update their new residential address on their driving license. This involves making a formal application to their respective Regional Transport Office to incorporate the change in their driving license. If the jurisdictional RTO has changed, then the first step to getting the residential address changed in the driving license is to get a No Objection Certificate or a Clearance Certificate from the RTO that had issued the current driving license. After procuring this document, the applicant must approach the jurisdictional RTO of the new address to make the necessary changes.
Write a letter to the RTO on a plain paper, requesting a change in the address on the DL.
Visit the RTO and collect the necessary forms. Fill it out with correct information.
Submit the application to the RTO. Attach all the necessary supporting documents along with proper address proof.
Pay the required fee. An additional fee of Rs.200 will be charged apart from the regular fee for address change.
The RTO officer will verify all the documents and approve the application and issue an acknowledge slip.
Form No. 7
Change of Address form
Post cover (as the DL will be dispatched through postal services)

Proof of current residential address
An affidavit sworn in front of an Executive Magistrate, First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary.
After completing the aforementioned procedure, the updated driving license will be sent to the new residential address by post. The new driving license will be dispatched within 30 days after making the application.
