The previous General Elections faced one common problem: names of many people were missing from the electoral roll. Despite being a registered voter, people's names have been missing from the voters' list. This has resulted in thousands of registered voters not being able to cast their votes since the voters' list didn't have their names. The problem is deep-rooted since the state election commission outsources data from the election commission website.
Reasons for Names Missing from the Electoral Roll
There could be many reasons why your name might not show up on the electoral roll. The reasons and the steps you may follow to get your name back on the voters' list:
You might have moved to a new address in the same constituency from which you are an eligible voter. So, the voters' list of the electoral roll of your current constituency will show your name. You may visit the official website of ECI, fill up Form 8A or visit the ERO office physically to get Form 8A. The forms are available free of cost in the ERO office. If you have recently moved to a different constituency where you were an eligible voter earlier, you may fill up Form 6. Form 6 can be downloaded online from the official website of election commission of India, or it can be obtained from the ERO office.
If the voter wishes to delete his/her name from the electoral roll, they may visit the official website of the election commission and download Form 7 from the site.
There could be situations where the wrong name has been mentioned in the voter ID card. You may fill Form 8 and make corrections for the name in your voter ID card.
The procedure for filling up the online application form for registering your name in the electoral list is described below
Visit the official website of election commission
Click on Online Voter Registration
Log in to the website by using your unique username and password
In the left space, upload your passport size photograph
Upload the documents that are considered to be your address proof. If you are unable to upload the documents online, then you may claim a request to visit the Booth Level Officer in your constituency
The procedure for registering your name in the electoral roll is described below:
Download the form online or get the form from the ERO office.
Fill in the relevant details and attach the required documents with it.
Send it to the voters' center of the constituency.
Depending on your convenience download your form from the EC official website or obtain it from the ERO office.
Fill out the form with the required details and attach valid documents with the form.
Submit the form to your voters' center or the BLO.

Proof of Age (birth certificate, Aadhaar or PAN)
