Elections are conducted in India every five years. The voting rights and duties of the citizens during elections is extremely crucial for the democracy and the election process. Voter's ID is considered to be an identity which is provided to the eligible voters; it can be used to cast votes during elections. The voter's ID is authorized by the Government of India as an identification proof. After applying for the voter's ID card, you can check the status online as well.

Procedure to Check the Status of Your Voter ID Online

• Log in to the National Voters' Service Portal.

• Enter the Reference ID and Form No.

• Click on Track Status.

• The status of your voter ID card application will be displayed on the screen.

• Use the reference number which was obtained while submitting the Form 8 online. You can follow the steps described below to check the correction status of your voter ID.

• Visit the official website of NVSP which provides a wide range of services linked with voter ID.

• Enter the reference number which is provided during filling up of Form 8 submission. The applicant must ensure that the reference number is accurate and any details have not been omitted.

• Click on the track status link.

• If the application is still in pending process, then you can bookmark the page to visit it later.

• You can also track the status of your application online by dialing 1950 from your BSNL or MTNL telephone.

You can use the reference number that you have obtained and follow the steps described below to check the correction status of your application:

• Visit the official website of National Voters Services Portal which provides a huge range of services linked with voter ID.

• Enter the Reference Number. You must make sure that the reference number is correct and the same as the one provided to you while applying for voter ID.

• Click on Track Status.

• The status of your voter ID application will be shown on the screen.

• You can track the voter ID by calling 1950 from your MTNL or BSNL telephone.

Tracking Election Card Status

Earlier if you needed to track the progress of your Voter ID application,  the applicants were required to manually visit the election office to know the Voter ID registration status. The government of India has now devised more convenient ways to track your voter ID application.

You can check the progress of your application in three ways:

• Through the official website of the Election Commission of India.

• Through your mobile via SMS.

• Contacting the official helpline number.

Check Voter ID Card Status Online

The Government has recently created a website which gives the information linked with voter ID so that you can find the status of your application.

You can easily track your voter ID card online by visiting the official website of ECI of the respective state.

You can follow these steps to check the status of your voter ID:

• Log in to the electoral Chief Electoral Officer's official website.

• Select the ‘Know the status of application' link.

• Fill the required details correctly.

• Select the national voter's service portal.

• Click on the link that says 'Search your Name in the voter list/electoral roll'.

You may track your application in two ways:

• Using your application number

• You can enter the EPIC number and your state number and the website will display your name and EPIC card number.

Search based on State or District Constituency

• You can enter your name, state you reside in and the district constituency along with other details. The Search result displays the status of your Voter ID card.

• While looking for Voter ID status online, you must correctly fill in the following details:

  • Name

  • Date of Birth

  • Father's or Husband's name

  • State Name

  • Gender

  • District Constituency

• If the website faces issues and crashes or gives out error messages you can re-enter your details and check the status of your voter ID.

• After filling the necessary details, click on the Search button.
