Elections are approaching and the country's focus has shifted to the voter ID card. What is a voter ID card? Voter ID is an identification proof that can be used to prove the eligibility of an individual to cast their votes. The Election Commission of India introduced the voter ID card. The Voter ID card also helps the Election Commission of India to avoid any malpractices when it comes to the election. If you are an Indian citizen and you are above 18 years, then the voter ID can be used for casting your vote. Also, it acts as an identity proof. If you are already a registered voter, then you may log in to the official website of Election Commission of India and download the voter ID card online.

How to Download Your Voter ID Card Online

• Visit the official website of Election Commission.

• Click on the Registration Link. Through the registration link, you may apply as a new voter

• If you proceed by selecting the registration link, you will be required to provide basic details like name, age, gender, etc.

• Along with your personal information, you will be required to provide your residential address and marital status.

• You will be asked to provide personal information and the voter ID details of two individuals who will be vouching for you.

• After completing the steps, you will be required to attach the supporting documents like your identity and  address proof.

• Your application number will be sent to the registered mobile number and email ID.

• You can use the application number to track your voter ID status.

• After your voter ID is uploaded on the website, you can click on the ‘download’ button and get a copy of the newly generated election card. However, this downloaded copy isn't equivalent to the original EPIC card.

Can the Downloaded COpy of Voter ID be Used as a Substitute of the Original Document?

• A soft copy of the voter ID cannot be ysed as a substitute of the original voter ID card since the original has a hologram on it, without which the voter ID card is considered invalid.

• After logging in to https://electoralsearch.in/, the individual can view all the information mentioned in his/her voter ID.

• The visitor can also search for details in their voter ID by specifying their name, date of birth, gender, state, address and EPIC number.
