Voters’ List, also known as the electoral roll, is a compiled list of the names and other details of voters in a particular constituency. The list of voters is published each year on the official website of Election Commission of India. Since the list of eligible candidates is available online, it is not necessary for the voters to head to a booth to search for their names on the voters' list. However, if an individual wishes to make any changes to the list, they must do so before ten days of the elections and after the release of this list. After the beginning of elections, it isn't possible to make any changes in the voters’ list.
It comprises the names of citizens who are eligible for voting in a specific constituency.
The names of people are listed on the voter's list irrespective of their religion, caste and gender. This is to ensure that there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or gender.
This list makes sure that everyone exercises their right to vote.
The updated voter list ensures that the names of new voters are added and the names of deceased individuals are removed.
The voters' list ensures that there are no fake votes in the name of the deceased individuals.
The voter's list includes information which is similar to the details on the voter ID card. The key components are as follows.
Full name of the person
