A country-wide Passport Seva Camp was set up on 18th October 2016. The main aim of this camp is to provide passport-related services to people who live quite far from the Passport Seva Kendras and to increase the citizens' convenience. The initiative was approved by the then External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj. The MEA plans on organizing such Camps periodically across India. The process of accepting passport applications at these Passport Seva Camps is very similar to that at the Passport Seva Kendras. Officials are available at all Camps and ensure that the entire procedure is run smoothly, without any hassle.
Passport Seva Camps are like temporary Passport Seva Kendras. They are temporarily set up in areas situated far from the regular Passport Seva Kendras. The applicants living in such notified areas may visit these Camps to submit their passport applications. These Camps have Citizen Service Executives, Verification Officers, Granting Officers, consoles with internet facility. It also has devices required for data entry and processing, such as printers, cameras, scanners and a machine for capturing biometric records.
What are the categories of applications that may be submitted at Passport Seva Camps?
All applications for fresh passports and reissue of passport (except the cases of damaged or lost passports) applied under the normal scheme can be submitted at these Camps. Tatkal passports cannot be processed at Passport Seva Camps.
Do applicants need to submit the passport application form online before visiting a Passport Seva Camp?
Yes, all application forms must be submitted online first. Applicants must then get their forms and their Application Reference Number receipts printed, which must then be taken along when the applicant visits a camp for submission of the passport application.
Can applicants avail passports through Tatkaal scheme through these Camps?
No, Tatkal applications cannot be processed at the Passport Seva Camps.
Can people apply for a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) through these Camps?
No, Police Clearance Certificates are not issued by Passport Seva Camps.
Do applicants need to take an appointment before visiting a Passport Seva Camp?
Yes, all applicants must first submit the passport application form online. Then they must pay the required fee to book an appointment. Applicants must visit a Passport Seva Camp only when they have a scheduled appointment. Information regarding the dates and timings of the camps are put up on the homepage of the official website.
How do applicants make their payment before visiting the Passport Seva Camp?
Online payment of fees is the most convenient option for booking appointments at Passport Seva Camp. It can be done through Debit or Credit cards (Visa & MasterCard) as well as Internet Banking (SBI). Alternatively, applicants can generate and print a bank challan and then visit any branch of SBI to deposit the amount.
Are manually filled applications accepted at a Passport Seva Camp?
No, manually filled applications are not processed at Passport Seva Camps. All applications have to be submitted online.
