The official website of Passport Seva offers a very handy tool to the Indian citizens. It is the Fee Calculator, which is very useful for applicants to calculate how much their passport or related application would cost them. This tool lets applicants calculate the fees associated with fresh passport applications, the reissue of passports, PCC (police clearance certificates), identity certificates and surrender certificates. The fee not only differs for the application for different services but also for different types of applications between different age groups and different modes of application.
The Passport Fee Calculator can be found on the Passport Seva website.
Go to the Home Page, locate the Information Corner on the left and click on “Fee Calculator”.
As the calculator crops up, enter the relevant details and click on “Calculate”.

Passport Fresh Issue
Log on to the Passport Seva Website, access the fee calculator and select the following:
Application type - Passport
Type of service - Fresh
Applicant age (choose the relevant option)
Required scheme - Normal or Tatkaal (choose the relevant option)
Click on “Calculate Fee”
Passport Reissue
Log on to the Passport Seva Website, access the fee calculator and select the following:
Application type - Passport
Type of service - Reissue
Reason for reissue:
Validity expired
Delete ECR/Change in personal particulars
Exhaustion of Pages
Lost or damaged passport
Applicant age (choose the relevant option)
Required scheme - Normal or Tatkaal (choose the relevant option)
Click on “Calculate Fee”
Police Clearance Certificate
Log on to the Passport Seva Website, access the fee calculator and select the following:
Application type - PCC
Click on “Calculate Fee”
At present, the fee for PCC is Rs.500
Identity Certificate (Fresh)
Log on to the Passport Seva Website, access the fee calculator and select the following:
Application type - Identity Certificate
Type of service - Fresh
Click on “Calculate Fee”
At present, the fee for Identity Certificate is Rs.1,000
Identity Certificate Reissue
Log on to the Passport Seva Website, access the fee calculator and select the following:

If one has paid the fees but cannot make the appointment, could they get a refund?
No. Once the fees are paid, refund is not possible under any circumstances.
How long is the payment valid for?
The fee payment is valid for 1 year from the date of payment.
What are the charges for renewing a passport?
Passport renewals are applicable only to Short Validity Passports. Hence, there are no charges associated with the service. This must not be confused with the reissue of passports.
Can the fees be paid online?
Yes, fee payment can be done online using credit/debit cards as well as net banking.
What is an ARN?
The ARN stands for Application Reference Number. It is issued once the applicant has submitted the passport application. It should be printed and taken along to the PSK on the date of the appointment.
What are the fees for a Diplomatic/Official passport?
There are no fees for it.
