Everything has gone digital with the growing popularity of the internet, including the procedures of procuring official documents. Applicants can now easily apply for all their crucial official documents, such as Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID, etc. online through the official websites. A Passport is one such important document which is mandatory for individuals who wish to travel outside the country. The Government provides this official document to its citizens. It allows the passport holders to travel outside the country under the native country’s protection.
All applicants can now apply for an Indian passport online by visiting the official website of the Passport Seva Kendra. They can fill in the necessary form and upload them online along with a valid ID and address proof as well as an affidavit in the form of Annexure-I if required. After submitting the form and the documents, applicants must pay the processing fee to select a convenient date and time slot for the appointment at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra. However, if an applicant has already chosen an appointment slot but wishes to cancel or postpone it for various reasons, the following steps can be of help.
The applicant must go to the official website of the Passport Seva Kendra and then log in using their unique ID and password.
The applicant must then click on the tab called ‘View Saved/Submitted Applications’ and select the option called ‘Schedule Appointment’.
Two options will be available - ‘Reschedule Appointment’ and ‘Cancel Appointment’. The applicant need not have to cancel the appointment; he/she can simply reschedule the appointment to a convenient date.
Applicants must note that they can cancel or reschedule their appointment only two times a year from the date of the original passport application. A pop-up will display, showing the number of attempts left.
Once the applicant clicks on the button to reschedule, he/she will be required to select the preferred PSK to visit for the appointment followed by clicking on ‘Next’.
Applicants will have to go through the available dates and select the most convenient one for an appointment. Then he/she must click on ‘Book Appointment’.
In doing so, the previous date of appointment will be automatically canceled.
An appointment confirmation screen will be displayed which contains a ‘Print Application Receipt’ tab. The applicant must take a printout of the appointment receipt before visiting the Passport Seva Kendra for the appointment.
Hence, applicants can visit the PSK on the new date and time slot and further their passport application procedure. Applicants must also remember to keep an eye on the number of times they reschedule or cancel their appointment. Applicants who exceed the limit will have to pay the full fee once again to schedule a new appointment.
