Online payments are highly convenient for seeking appointment bookings at PSKs. If you have applied under the Tatkal scheme, you only need to pay the standard passport fee online during the online application, and the remaining Tatkal fee will be collected from you in cash at the PSK. For card payments, banks apart from SBI typically charge 1.5% + Service Tax on every transaction. Online payments are valid for one year from the date of the first appointment and applications are to be submitted within this period else the payment will be forfeited, and a new payment must be made.
Offline Payment
The passport application fee can be paid offline by generating a challan from the Passport Seva Web Portal and taking a copy of it to deposit the money in any branch of SBI. After two days of depositing the money in a branch of SBI, you must check the confirmation status by clicking on "Track Payment Status." If it shows "Success," you can book an appointment by clicking on "Schedule Appointment." Tatkal applications, penalties, and other miscellaneous charges are to be paid in cash directly at the PSKs. The passport application fee can be paid online using a demand draft.
