The Passport Seva project is handled by the CPV (Consular, Passport, and Visa) division of the Ministry of External Affairs.  It aims to provide all the services associated with a passport in a highly transparent, convenient and speedy way. This project, executed under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in private- public-partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is servicing the Indians through nearly 80 Passport Offices across the country and it is one of the biggest projects that are currently active.

As MEA planned to offer mobile services to the Indian populace, they came up with the concept of the mPassport app. Subsequently, the mobile passport seva application was developed and launched. Extremely convenient and helpful, the mPassport app offers a variety of services to all smartphone users. It is available on Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows platforms.

Features Of the mPassport Seva App

• The passport application mainly provides guidance and information about the various steps involved passport-related services.

• Users can easily search for a PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) or a DPC (District Passport Cell) using the app. Even an Indian citizen living overseas can use the app to look for relevant details about the Indian Posts/Missions abroad.

• Users can effortlessly search for their respective Police Station on the passport application for some specific districts and states.

• The app has a Fee Calculator option to help users get information about the fees, service charges and the mode of submission.

• Users can also check their passport application status by entering their date of birth and file number. Once the passport is dispatched, the app offers the facility to track its delivery status.
