Claim Process of the Insurance Policy

In the event of an accident, any damage or liability that occurs as per the policy inclusions, following are the steps that are required to be taken:

• Inform the policy issuing officer through call or visit the nearest United India office.
• Don't remove the vehicle from the accident spot in case of an immense accident or if the damage is caused by riot or fire until an appointed investigator from insurer's side inspects the location. The same process should also be followed in case of the accidents that are involving commercial vehicles.
• In case of third-party damages or liabilities, inform the nearest police station instantly.
• Once the initial formalities are done, take the vehicle to an authorized garage listed on the insurance policy or any other authorized workshop.
• Collect a cost estimate from the shop and submit it along with the claim form for the final investigation.
• The police complaints or FIRs(in original) if applicable, should be provided to the investigator. The FIR copy is mandatory in case of any third party loss, damage or liability.
• The repair work can proceed after the final surveyor gives the nod for it.
• Once the repairs are done, submit the bills to the insurer for the compensation, if the claim has been verified.
• In case the vehicle has been stolen, the policyholder needs to notify the company as well as the police on an immediate basis. If the person gets delayed in filing the complaints, it may result in the rejection of the claim. The FIR is mandatory in such cases.
