Jeevan Pramaan
Jeevan Pramaan is a digital service started by the Government of India for the central and state government pensioners in the ountry. It is a biometric-enabled service. This service has been launched for the benefit of pensioners, so that they don't need to visit the pension disbursing agencies such as post-offices and banks for the submission of life certificates. Life certificate is an essential requirement for getting the pension credited in the bank account. Elderly people find it difficult to visit the pension disbursing agencies for getting a life certificate, especially when they are asked to come several times due to documentation issues or for some other requirements for the process.
How Does Digital Life Certificate Work for Jeevan Praman Scheme?
Jeevan Pramaan aims to issue digital life certificates for pensioners. Being a biometric-enabled scheme, it uses the same biometric authentication as that of Aadhaar to authenticate the pensioners all over the country. Through this app, the pensioners can download the life certificate, or they can visit the nearby Pramaan authorized centre operated by banks, citizen service centres, and government offices to start the registration process. At these centres, the pensioners are asked to show their Aadhaar card, bank account number, pension payment order, and the registered mobile number for verification. Further, pensioners need to provide biometric data such as fingerprint and iris scan for authentication. After this, the Jeevan Pramaan ID will be sent to the registered mobile number through SMS. Once the life certificate gets issued, either it can be downloaded, or it can be saved in the repository providing access to the Pension Disbursing Agency at the Jeevan Praman website.
