Unlike Voter ID cards, where teenagers of 18 years or more are only eligible to apply, Aadhaar card can be applied by even a newborn infant. Aadhaar enrolment process for kids and adults is similar, except a few differences such as:
Biometric data will not be captured for children below 5 years of age.
After the child turns 5 and 15, the parents must take care of updating the biometrics (fingerprints, iris scan) and photo.
A unique identification ID will be generated for the child based on the demographic data linked with the UID of parents.
For a child who is below 5 years, the parents or guardians need to mention their details in the enrolment form for applying.
The Procedure of Application for a Childrens Aadhaar Card:
Visit the nearest enrolment center and enter all the details in the enrolment form.
Provide all the documents required for proving the relationship with the child.
Review the form before the final submission in order to make any corrections, if required.
An acknowledgment slip will be given with enrolment number on it after the completion of enrolment process.
How can children be captured in the UIDAI database?
