In India, UIDAI issues a 12-digit unique identification number through Aadhaar card to the residents, which serves as an identification proof as well as address proof for them. Once the process of enrolment gets completed, the e-Aadhaar download and print can be done from the official website of UIDAI. In case the individual can't wait for it to come via post, which is sent within 60-90 days from the enrolment process, or in case the Aadhaar card has been lost, the e-Aadhaar can come in handy. The e-Aadhaar download can be done in three ways:
Through Aadhaar number
Through VID
Through EID

The Process of Downloading Aadhaar Through VID:
VID or Virtual ID is a 16-digit random number which can be used for authentication for temporary basis in the same way the Aadhaar can be used. VID can be created from the UIDAI portal. So if you have VID but you want to download aadharcard then VID can also be used for the downloading process. Here are the steps for downloading Aadhaar using VID:
Visit the official website of UIDAI.
As 'Aadhaar online services' section is further divided into three subsections, you should navigate through 'Aadhaar Enrolment' section and click on 'download Aadhaar' link listed under it.
Clicking on 'download Aadhaar' link will take you to another page which will ask you for downloading e-Aadhaar by using Aadhaar number or UID (Unique Identification Number), EID (Aadhaar Enrolment ID which is issued at the time submission of Aadhaar application) or VID (Aadhaar Virtual ID which allows the user to authenticate transactions and complete e-kyc process without using Aadhaar number).
Enter the 16 digit VID and the personal details like full name and the pincode of your residential address.
Fill the captcha code as displayed on the screen.
In case you have a TOTP (Time based OTP) which can be generated through the m-Aadhaar app, put a tick mark in the checkbox, else request for an OTP.
If you have requested for an OTP, the OTP number will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Enter the 6 digit OTP and download Aadhaar.
The Process of Downloading Aadhaar Through EID:
Go to UIDAI portal.
Scroll down the 'Aadhaar Enrolment' section and click on 'download Aadhaar' option.
A new page will open where you need to enter the 14-digit enrolment number along with date, time stamp and personal details
Enter the captcha code mentioned on the screen.
Select the OTP option to generate OTP for the submission of request.
Fill the OTP details and download the Aadhaar by clicking on 'download Aadhaar'
What is TOTP?
TOTP is one-time temporary password (8-digit numeric string) which once generated remain valid for only 30 seconds.
How can TOTP be generated?
TOTP can be generated by using mAadhar app. For TOTP generation, the mobile number should be registered and the mobile device should be in sync with the IST time-zone.
Steps for configuring TOTP:
Install the mAadhar app from google play store.
Create your profile.
Click through TOTP page view and it will be visible for the next 30 seconds.
