Linking Bank Account with your PAN serves many purposes. It is easier for the tax authorities to track your financial transactions and gives additional protection to your PAN card and helps in avoiding identity theft. Linking your PAN card with your bank account is mandatory as per the rules laid down by the Government of India. Except for the Basic Savings Account Holders in SBI, it is necessary for the account holders to link their PAN with the bank account. In case, the account-holder hasn't linked their PAN details with their bank account; they'll have to submit the Form-16, which is a self-declaration for non-possession of a PAN card.
