Popular Festivals/Holidays in Sikkim

The Nepalese population living in Sikkim celebrates Hindu festivals like Diwali and Dusshera. The state has a large number of Buddhist residents who celebrate festivals such as Losar, Loosong, Lhabab Duechen, Saga Dawa, Drupka Teshi and Bhumchu. Losar is the Tibetan New Year and the state gets a holiday on the day. Maghe Sankranti is the traditional local festival celebrated by the entire state.
