About Punjab

Punjab is an Indian state in the north-western part of the country. It shares a border with the Pakistani province of Punjab. The region acquired its name from five tributaries of River Indus that flow through the state, namely Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej. These rivers give a fertile soil to the state, which thrives on its agricultural industry for economic growth. Punjab is also a tourism hub. Punjab has a majority of Sikh residents followed by the Hindu community. The people of Punjab celebrate all major festivals of India in a very secular spirit.
