EPFO's Pensioners Portal was established as a platform for India's Pensioners Associations. The policies for pensioners are regulated by the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare. The department addresses various issues of pensioners and also provides information about new pension rules, pension schemes, retirement benefits, and various pension processes. The portal was formed to bridge the gap between the government and pensioners, and make the practices more transparent. It was developed with the aim of sanctioning and disbursing the pension smoothly to the users. The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare had the vision of having a system of governance focused around the interest of pensioners.
The EPFO website also caters to the employees who work overseas. The Certificate of Coverage or CoC is generally required to claim the tax exemptions in the host country by the employees who work abroad on a temporary basis. This process can be accessed online and is therefore convenient for the people who travel abroad for temporary employment purpose. At present, such Indian residents can claim exemptions in almost 18 countries.
One Employee-One EPF Account
Launched in 2016, the 'One Employee One EPF Account' system aims to help employees in consolidating their previous EPF accounts. Before the introduction of the UAN, the employees used to have one PF account with one employer. This facility allows employees to transfer funds from their old EPF accounts to the new EPF account linked with the UAN. However, the old EPF accounts can't be merged with the new one since the regional offices who handle these EPF accounts are usually different. You can make claims for EPF transfers from the old PF accounts through the Online Transfer Claim Portal (OTCP), and the requests for PF transfers are registered with the EPFO instantly.
EPFO UAN Help Desk
EPFO has a separate portal for all UAN related queries. A subscriber can avail the services on the portal by registering in the help-desk portal. The help desk provides support with the EPF and UAN related issues.
EPFO Login for Employers
The EPFO has also established a separate system for the employers to assist them in transferring claims more efficiently and conveniently. The process of login to the EPFO portal is the same for employers as that of employees. The employers should have a UAN which is registered and activated with the EPFO portal for login purpose.
The online services available for employers on the EPFO portal are - registering a new establishment, making the ECR challan payments, creating EPF accounts for the employees and approving EPF claims among many other services.
