While filing your income tax return, you will come across two parts – uploading your return and verifying the same. Verification of returns is the process wherein the income tax return you uploaded is verified by the income tax department. This process can be done either physically or electronically using any of the methods mentioned below. The due date to file the return for this financial year is 31st August, unless it gets extended by the income tax department.
After submitting your income tax return online, you need to print a physical copy of the Income Tax Verification Form (ITR-V) generated when your return is uploaded on the Income Tax website.
Sign and send the ITR-V form to the Income Tax Centralised Processing Center (CPC) in Bengaluru within 120 days of filing the returns. You are not needed to send any other documents.

You can easily e-verify your return through net banking. Follow the process mentioned below:
Log in to your net banking account using your credentials.
Click on the e-filing button.
Now, click on the ‘e-verify’ option.
You will receive an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) on your mobile number and email ID.
Enter the EVC and click on ‘Verify.’
You e-verification of ITR is now done.
Go to a nearby ATM and swipe your ATM card.
Select ‘PIN for e-filing.’
You will receive an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) on your mobile number.
Now, go to the Income Tax e-filing website.
Click on the ‘e-verify’ link.
Select ‘e-verify return through bank ATM.’
Enter the EVC and click on ‘Submit.’
Your e-verification process is done.
Go to the Income Tax e-filing website.
Pre-validate your bank account details.
After verification, click on the ‘Verify with bank account’ option.
Now click on ‘Generate OTP’.
You will receive an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) on your mobile number.
Enter the EVC on the e-filing website and click on ‘Submit.’
Your e-verification process is done.
Go to the Income Tax e-filing website.
Pre-validate your Demat account details.
After your Demat account is successfully validated, click on the ‘E-verify with demat account’ option.
Now click on ‘Generate OTP.’
You will receive an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) on your mobile number.
Enter the EVC on the e-filing website and click on ‘Submit.’
Your e-verification process is done.
After you have linked your Aadhaar card to your PAN, you can e-verify your income tax return. Follow the steps mentioned below to e-verify your returns using Aadhaar card:
Go to the income tax e-filing website.
Enter your user ID and password.
Upload your ITR through the website.
Now, you will be asked for the mode of verification for your return, which are as follows:
I do not have an EVC and would like to generate EVC to e-Verify my return.
I already have an EVC to e-verify my return.
I would like to generate Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify my return.
I would like to e-verify Later/send ITR-V.
Select ‘Generate Aadhaar OTP’ option.
A one-time password will be generated and sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar; this OTP is valid for 10 minutes.
Finally, enter the OTP on the page and click on ‘Submit.’
You will receive a message that reads ‘Return successfully e-Verified.
Download the acknowledgement page if required. An acknowledgment form will also be sent to your registered email ID.
You have successfully e-verified your income tax return using your Aadhaar card.
